(they/them) has a BA in Music and Violin Performance from Roosevelt University and has worked as a music educator for 20 plus years within the CPS system as well as actively performing in multiple genres, styles and platforms. They also had a moment in Oakland California, where they founded their own music school, Mynah Music. They can also say that they are also an ethnomusicologist, autodidact, pedagogist a proponent of critical feminist theory and involved in reform and activism by praxis. They currently work and study at Kennedy King College working towards a Certification in Racial Healing. Their music, teaching, and listening skills all intersect their pursuit of civil rights in education, music, healing, restorative justice and transformative practices. A current fellow and mentorship through Disability Lead, Lizarda LLC hopes to contribute to dialogue and study, gain tools needed to create awareness and empower others on the isms of today that marginalize us, including the disabled community. They include racism, agism, sexism and ablism. As a disruptor of the status quo, they hope to play a part in how we can make for a better community at large.
